Denise Layton is an Edmonton lawyer practicing in the areas of Residential Real Estate, Commercial Real Estate, Corporate, Wills and Estates. She has had her law degree for more than 30 years and has spent this time building solid relationships with her clients to provide personalized individual legal services.

Residential/Commercial Real Estate:

Denise works with an experienced team to ensure that real estate transactions are handled professionally and stress free. In addition to having an in-house conveyancer with over 20 years’ experience, Denise works with a number of local realtors,  mortgage brokers, tax advisors and financial planners to execute a smooth residential or commercial real estate transaction. Denise will also review condominium documents, draft offers, prepare contracts, discharge or register caveats, encumbrances and mortgages, and assist with home construction contracts.                                                                         

Corporate:

In addition to practicing law, Denise also has over 20 years’ experience in operating a small business and leasing company. She is able to appropriately assess her client’s corporate legal needs through her hands-on knowledge of business and management, therefore giving her clients honest advice regarding practical business issues. Denise offers comprehensive corporate legal services including incorporating a business, establishing a partnership or joint venture, purchasing or selling a business or its assets and preparing and reviewing contracts and agreements. In addition to basic incorporations, Denise also specializes in representing the professional corporations of physicians, dentists, accountants and lawyers to assist in preparing management/employment agreements or cost sharing/partnership agreements which could be beneficial for their practice. Denise is also happy to work with her client’s accountant or tax advisor to achieve a corporate structure which is most beneficial to the client.

Wills/Estates:

Denise provides extensive estate planning services including the preparations of Wills, Enduring Power of Attorneys, Personal Directives and Guardianship Directives. Estate planning involves a considerable amount of planning and attention and Denise is more than happy to spend the time to explain those finer details that are important to any family situation. In the case of elderly or immobile clients, Denise is happy attend upon clients at their home or extended care facility to ensure a comfortable appointment setting to discuss estate planning matters and execute documents. Denise can also provide family Estate planning advice for business owners which incorporate a business succession plan to address the future of the company. Following the death of a family member or loved one, she will assist with probating the estate and preparing any necessary legal documents in connection with probate.

Denise’s primary goal is client understanding and comfort. She invests her time and effort to ensure her clients are satisfied in knowing they have received solid, trustworthy legal advice.

In addition to practicing law, Denise is an avid gardener, golfer and reader. She enjoys spending time with her husband and four children. Denise plans to succeed her practice to her daughter who is currently in law school.
